Chinese New Year – Chinese Nutrition Class In Chinese Medicine, food is considered to be the medicine we take in three times per day as a way to maintain internal balance. In celebration of the Chinese New Year, Lisa has invited the Program in Integrative Medicine’s acupuncturist and Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Stephanie McGuirk, to introduce the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach to food and nutrition. Come to this class to explore the 5 Element Theory as it relates to diet. Learn how the 5 main tastes (sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, salty) have an affinity for different elements and organ systems and some strategies to balance not getting too much or too little in your diet. Participate in a tasting demo to try noodles, tofu, and Asian greens prepared with various flavors that demonstrate each of the 5 elements. Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Vegetarian Friendly*. $20 |
